When to use FaceFile
We created FaceFile so that it could be used in a variety of self-protecting, crime-deterring situations. Our instant safety alerts to your Personal Protection Network serve to assist you in risky, threatening and unfamiliar situations. Our belief is that it’s better to be safe than sorry. Use common sense when implementing FaceFile. Always contact local emergency services if your life is in immediate danger.
Here are some circumstances in which to use FaceFile.
Unfamiliar people and places
Social situations – when meeting new people in a social setting – a party, bar, restaurant – snap a photo of where you are and the people you are with, especially if you don’t know them very well. Take the picture, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account. Since it’s not uncommon to take photos in a social environment, it would be an easy way to use FaceFile as a precaution. Consider using FaceFile if you’ve left a party with someone you just met. Again, snap a photo, add a name or comment, and send it to FaceFile.

Visiting unknown areas – whether you’re on a run, hike, bike ride, walk or exploring a new place, take a picture of where you are, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account. If you end up lost, FaceFile could be extremely helpful in trying to locate you, should your friends and family identify you as missing.
Working on site or in the field – if you are a real estate agent, service repairman, computer technician – someone who is sent to unfamiliar locations for your job – use FaceFile every time you arrive at a new destination. Document where you are and with whom you are meeting by taking pictures. Add a name or comment, then send it to your FaceFile account. It’s a simple way to self-protect should anything go wrong.
Technicians and servicemen are called to your home, office or any location – it’s equally important to document the stranger sent to your home or office when repairs or assistance are needed. If your vehicle breaks down on the road and roadside assistance is required, take a picture of the person who has come to your aid. Snap a photo of the person who arrives at your home to make repairs. You’ll find that uploading this information to FaceFile will put you at ease. Take a picture of where you are, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account.
When feeling threatened or at risk
A stranger approaches you – take a picture and send it to FaceFile. If the stranger has bad intentions, the simple snap of your cell phone’s camera could deter a robbery, rape, or violation of you and your property. If this person is a perpetrator, your actions could help Law Enforcement officials in their pursuit of capturing this person.
You’re being followed or stalked – if possible, turn around and take a picture. This could send the person in the other direction and prevent harmful intentions planned for you.
Witnessing a crime or accident
Being in the wrong place at the right time – suppose you witness a crime – a hit-and-run accident, a robbery, an attack on another person – document the scene or situation by taking a picture, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account. Your photo could help solve the crime.
Property damage – if you’ve been the victim of a robbery, break-in, or property violation, take a picture of the damage, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account. Because all FaceFile submissions are dated and time stamped, these images could be important to Law Enforcement authorities and to your insurance company.
Suspicious activity – if you see someone behaving oddly or you suspect they’ve committed a crime, take their picture, add a name or comment, and send it to your FaceFile account.
When NOT to use FaceFile
Do not take the time to use FaceFile if your life is in immediate danger. Get yourself to a safe place and contact local authorities for assistance. FaceFile is meant to protect you as long as it does not endanger your life. It’s also meant to help deter crime, but only if it does not put you in harm’s way.
